LEVEL 3 TABLE OFFICIAL

This an in-depth course for those who have completed Level 2 and have been operating at that level across the timer and scorer roles for at least two full seasons. The Level 3 course provides in-depth training on the roles of the timer and scorer, as well as introducing the role of the shot clock operator.

Level 3 Table Officials can be deployed to all NBL competitions and below.

You will need access to a laptop, computer or smart device to complete this course. You will also need to be able to print out the practice scoresheet template to be able to complete the course.

Each candidate who signs up to our online course will receive a 10% discount (valid for one purchase) on officiating products in our online shop.

Expected duration: 10 hours (2 x 2.5 hour online webinars, 1.5 hours pre-course work and homework, 2 x 1 hour examinations, 1.5 hours scoresheet assessment).

Prerequisite: Level 2 Table Official for at least two full basketball seasons.

Recommended minimum age: 18 years

Online module requirements: The course consists of two webinars hosted by one of our Table Official tutors. The modules for the online webinars consist of:

  • Introduction and Rules Quiz
  • Roles and Responsibilities
  • Correctable Errors
  • Running Scoresheet
  • Shot Clock Mechanics
  • Adaptations for Wheelchair Basketball
  • Brainteasers
  • Q&A

In addition to the live webinars, there is a pre-course scoresheet task to complete which will be available within the the shared online folder for your course.

Further support: After you have signed up you will be added to a shared folder where you will access different resources you need for the course, including a pre-course scoresheet task for you to complete. One week before the course you will be emailed the login details for your webinar and your Tutor's contact information. Your tutor will be able to support your learning and answer any questions you may have. 

Assessments: 

  • Two online theory examinations including multiple choice rules questions and game scenarios. 
  • Scoresheet assessment.
  • 3 assessment games (one as scorer, one as timer and one as shot clock operator). You will need to table officiate these three games with a Level 4 or higher table official or approved Table Official Coach who will confirm your competency for the Level 3 Table Official Award.

You must complete the online webinars, and pass your theory exams and scoresheet assessment before you can start 3 assessment games.

Certification: Upon completion of the two online webinars, successful completion of the two theory exams and scoresheet assessment, and after a satisfactory performance in one game as scorer, one game as timer and one game as a shot clock operator, you will receive an e-certificate.
