SAFEGUARDING during covid-19

Ahead of the 2020/21 season, Basketball England has been working with the Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU), Ann Craft Trust and other governing bodies to assess the impact of Covid-19 on welfare. 

To provide further improvements to support our membership and protect everyone in the sport, we have prepared a safeguarding statement that all members should be aware of. It includes a significant amount of help, support and guidance on a number of subjects, including:

• Reporting safeguarding concerns
• Contacting members
• Online safety
• Mental health
• Victimisation of adults at risk
• Communicating via social media
• Training and CPD

In addition to the list above, it is important that all members are aware of how safeguarding has needed to adapt to the current Covid-19 climate.

The delivery of training, the checking of evidence and documentation and the process for DBS checks have all needed to adjust, so this is something members should note.
