Basketball England’s Coaching Advisory Group has now been formed with the goal of engaging more of the sport’s emerging, best and most experienced coaches to drive up standards of coaching and feed into key areas like player development.
The group will also look to monitor delivery of the coach development project, detailed in the recently published Coaching Game Plan, as well as act in an advisory capacity to Basketball England staff in relation to the delivery of the plan and coaching in general.
Basketball England Delivery Manager Brian Aldred said, “We recognised that the development of our new coaching game plan will be further enhanced by support, guidance and constructive challenge from a group of independent experts, who have relevant coaching knowledge of grassroots through to high performance basketball.”
Nominated representatives on the group were selected due to their experiences in one or more of the following areas: International Team Coaching, Regional & Talent Coaching, Senior Team Coaching, Junior Team Coaching, Primary Aged Coaching and/or Coach Education.
The group will look to meeting at least four or five times a year, with relevant speakers and guests being invited to meetings based on their expertise and the subject matter being discussed. More importantly, members of the group will make sure that they pass important information back to their organisations, clubs, regions or agreed networks after each meeting.
