There was plenty of drama in the latest weekend of action in the BBL including a dramatic game-winner and an overtime battle between the top two.
London Lions continue to lead the way at the top of the BBL Championship after moving to 11-2 with back-to-back wins at the Copper Box. They finished with a 14-0 run to see off rivals, London City Royals for an 80-63 success before overcoming DBL Sharks Sheffield 92-82 in overtime with Ladarius Tabb putting up double-doubles in both victories.
Ingus Bankevics produced one of the moments of the season after netting the game-winner at the buzzer to lift Manchester Giants to an 89-92 victory away at Bristol Flyers. The Latvian hit two big threes - including the winner - in the final 15 seconds with Willie Clayton also posting 18 points and 20 rebounds in the win.
Manchester were unable to repeat their heroics on Sunday as they fell to a 76-83 loss at home to Radisson RED Glasgow Rocks, despite battling back from 32 down. Ali Fraser led the Rocks with 23 points, nine rebounds and six assists as they joined the Giants on four wins.
Cheshire Phoenix ended their losing run dating back to October as they enjoyed a successful weekend double-header. Momcilo Latinovic put up 35 points in a 78-88 triumph at Worcester Wolves before all five starters hit double figures in a 93-74 win over Surrey Scorchers.
"It was great to get back to the Cheshire Oaks Arena and help the team with a double-double," said CJ Gettys.
"We came into the game with a mindset of two wins and we worked hard to achieve it. It's important we stay focused and build off our weekend success."
Meanwhile, the Sharks had taken their win streak to eight games in the league - prior to their loss to London - after they powered past Esh Group Eagles Newcastle in an 86-74 victory as Chris Alexander top scored with 23 points.
