With the first NBL event of the season a little over 2 months away, tickets will go on general sale next week as the excitement begins to build. The Junior and Senior National Cup Finals will take place in mid-January, with Senior Cup Finals concluding in February. The Senior Playoff Finals will be on the final weekend in April, with the Jnr. NBL Final Fours ending the season seven days later.
Last season’s Finals provided some fantastic spectacles for those in attendance. WNBL Division Two side Ipswich managed to cap a fairy tale run to beat Essex in the Women’s National Cup Final, Hemel Storm claimed the Men’s National Cup, Worthing Thunder were crowned NBL Division One Playoff Champions and the Jnr. NBL Final Fours brought the house down in the North West!
Continuing the trend from last season, the various NBL events will continue to move around the country to give basketball fans from far and wide the opportunity to enjoy some live action. The brand new facility at the University of Essex will showcase the National Cup Finals, with the Senior Cup Finals being played at the University of East London. Both the Senior Playoffs and Jnr. NBL Final Fours will once again be at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester.
Basketball England’s Senior Delivery Manager (Game) Gail Richards said, "We are delighted to be able to spread this season's events across the country and once again engage with as many NBL fans as possible. We've also made some changes to some of our Finals following feedback last year. The Junior and Senior National Cups are now together on one weekend, and we've made adjustments to the schedule for the Senior Playoff Finals next April."
Dave Parry, Director of Sport, University of Essex said, "We are very pleased to be partnering with Basketball England to host the Finals of the National Cup this season. The University of Essex has made a significant commitment to supporting basketball and the National Cup Finals will take place almost exactly one year after the opening of the £12M Essex Sport Arena. As the best basketball facility in the East of England, we hope it will be the venue for many major basketball events for years to come."
Tickets for all Basketball England’s NBL and Jnr. NBL events will go on sale early next week through the Basketball England online shop, which can be viewed using the button below.
