Herts Basketball Association and Herts Sports Partnership will host Lives NOT Knives safeguarding event, providing valuable training and information for all sports clubs interested in attending.
Aimed at providing those in attendance with the facts around knife crime, spotting the signs of someone involved and guidance on what to do if you have concerns, the event will run from 7:30pm-9:00pm at the University of Hertfordshire, De Favilland Campus, AL10 9EU on On Wednesday 27 November.
"Since January 2019 Hertfordshire Gangs and Schools Team have received over 300 referrals of young people under 18 years old at risk of criminal exploitation and both boys are girls are at risk,” said East Region chair Angela Griffin.
"Children involved in knife crime risk exclusion from mainstream education and this may make them more vulnerable."

Herts Sports Partnership have kindly offered their support to the session, covering various costs to make sure the event remains free for those wishing to attend.
The event is part of a wider series of initiatives aimed at tackling knife crime and gang related activity in the area. Working with Hertfordshire Constabulary, the campaign has been highlighted at multiple events, including Basketball England Aspire weekends, Special Olympics training sessions and Norfolk Youth Basketball League games.
The local association have also been working with Stevenage Council to stage an outdoor basketball initiative, providing youngsters with the opportunity to play on outdoor courts by providing a ball.
