The England Talent Programme (ETP) Camp continued today with more drills and activities across the courts of the National Performance Centre in Manchester. With over 60 players in attendance, the schedule was a busy one with plenty of learning and development opportunities on offer.
A lot the teaching points from the day reinforced ideas and concepts originally introduced yesterday, but layers are being continually added to increase the complexity. It’s a steep learning curve for the Under 14 and Under 15 players, but an important step in helping them to develop and move their game to the next level.
“It’s been pleasing to see the players taking on board what coaches are trying to get them to do, even if it isn’t something that comes naturally to their game at the moment,” said Basketball England’s Talent Programme and Pathway Manager Charlie Ford. “There have been some great strides made over the two days and tomorrow promises more of the same.”

For the first time at this week’s camp, players were provided with film study sessions to emphasise specific coaching points from yesterday’s play. By placing the sessions in the early afternoon, all players had the opportunity to analyse their efforts so far and build on those performances through the remainder of Tuesday.
With the Under 15 Girls (Nottingham) and Under 15 Boys (Paris, France) both in action later this month, this week’s camp will play an important part in helping the various coaches select their rosters for those tournaments.
Camp will conclude tomorrow as players have one more opportunity to put everything they’ve learned into practice. We’ll have coverage on the Basketball England Twitter feed as well as our Instagram Story. For a gallery of images from today’s action, please use the button below.
