Six wins. Zero losses. Solent Kestrels continue their perfect record, whilst Reading Rockets and Hemel Storm keep the pressure on after a successful weekend. Here’s the latest recap.
Ahead of the fixture, it was a battle of third versus fourth at Uxbridge College, with both sides holding a record of 4-1.
It was Dru Sprinks’ Hemel Storm that clinched victory - and third place from their opposition following a 113-103 victory.
Hemel Storm led in three out of the four quarters, 33-28, 30-23 and 26-25 to become the eventual winners, whilst the hosts enjoyed a 27-24 quarter in the third but it wasn’t enough to claim the victory.
Mike Williams was the top scorer with 34 points, adding a further 9 rebounds to help guide the Storm to victory, whilst teammate Sam Newman scored 19 points.
Thames Valley enjoyed a stand-out performance from Martelle McLemore, who scoring 24 points to go with two assists and a block.
Solent Kestrels continued their unbeaten run, the only one left in the division, with an impressive 107-79 success over Bradford Dragons.
Elliot Sentance continued his fine scoring form, the highest point-scorer in the fixture with 24, adding five assists. Travis Charles also had an impressive performance in his side’s victory, second best behind his teammate with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Ricky Fetske scored the most points for the Dragons, with 17, 10 rebounds and two blocks.
Reading Rockets continue to pile pressure on the table toppers after another successful weekend, travelling to Liverpool to claim a close 90-86 victory.
Mark Rangeley was unlucky to be on the losing side, scoring 30 whilst adding six rebounds. For the Rockets, Nick Richards scored 27 points, and Liam Davis scored 16, with 13 rebounds and three blocks.
Loughborough Riders claimed their second win of the season over over in-form Derby Trailblazers, who had lost just one game prior to the clash.
The hosts in Derby Trailblazers opened the game with an impressive 29-19 lead in the first quarter, but that only motivated the visitors who led in the next three quarters to claim the win. Past Player of the Week Rasheed Worrell scored 17 points, adding 14 rebounds and one block, whilst teammate Alex Roberts scored 27 points and helped with eight assists.
Elsewhere, Nottingham Hoods claimed their first victory of the season 102-76 away to Westminster Warriors which has seen Ryan Westley’s side jump to 11th in the ladder.
Leicester Warriors travelled to Barking Abbey and came away with a 80-67 success. TJ Henderson led the way for the visitors with 19 points, whilst Roderick Howell also impressed with 19 points, seven rebounds and one block.
At the bottom of the table, Essex & Herts Leopards will still continue to search for their first win of the season after falling 102-84 to Worthing Thunder. Despite being on the wrong side of the scoreline, Hafeez Abdul stop scored with 30, adding 13 rebounds, six assists and two blocks.
