The NBL Weekend Takeover for 16/17 March will see Liverpool take the reins of the NBL Instagram story.
We caught up with Liverpool's Kaphel Ulett-Waul ahead of their takeover weekend, in our Player Spotlight feature.

Name: Kaphel Ulett-Waul

Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I’m 26 and have been playing basketball for about 13 years. Spent all my junior years in the Manchester Magic programme before going to University in Birmingham where I played National league for a few Birmingham sides over the years. During the day I enjoy fixing people's teeth working as a Dentist
What brought you to the NBL in the first place?
Unlike a lot of English schools my high school had a good balance of Football and Basketball. So teachers used to encourage us to try out for the Manchester youth programme. Since then it’s just been a habit really, not sure what else I would do with my time.
What was your first impression of the NBL? How has that changed?
Competitive and fun, always has been.
What was your biggest challenge?
Dislocating my shoulder a couple of years ago was quite challenge, as i'm not good with taking time off, so it probably took a bit longer than it should of to get back to 100%
What changes have you noticed in yourself since joining the NBL?
I've always been one of the quicker people on the court so I’ve always tended to rely on speed, but the past couple of years started to shoot a lot more.
What are you working on right now, what are your current goals?
Working hard on keeping a clean sheet for the season and hopefully sealing the deal by becoming playoff champions
What is your favourite NBL memory?
After winning in 2016, we plummeted due to losing a lot of players into the next season and were fighting relegation. We made a great push in the last stretch though to survive
What advice would you give someone who is just getting started in basketball?
Like everything in life you get out what you put in
What do you like to do outside of basketball?
Ball is life
Finally, who is your favourite British basketball player and why?
Steven Gayle. Over all the years watching him play he always made the game look so simple and easy. Guarding him was always a problem.
