London City Royals stated their intentions in the summer and achieved their first title with a 90-82 success in overtime against London Lions in the BBL Trophy Final.
The Royals came from seven down in the fourth to force the extra period through Ed Lucas' three before taking over beyond regulation for the win.
Ashley Hamilton finished with 25 points and 14 rebounds as MVP, pipping Matthew Bryan-Amaning to the award, despite his impressive stat-line of 26 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four blocks.
"I'm lost for words," said MVP, Hamilton. "It was a battle - we played against a very difficult team. Everyone put in top class performances. It means the world to me, the world to my coaches and the world to my team."
Meanwhile, Bristol Flyers had a mixed weekend at home after following up a 95-79 win over Plymouth Raiders with an 83-89 loss against Surrey Scorchers.
Jalan McCloud had 21 points and 10 assists to help the Flyers overcome their South-West rivals, but Tayo Ogedengbe's 33-point haul led Surrey to a first road win since October.
Esh Group Eagles Newcastle defeated Radisson RED Glasgow Rocks 83-66 behind 25 points and 10 rebounds for Victor Moses, while DBL Sharks Sheffield hung on to beat Worcester Wolves 68-71 on the road to end their losing run.
