The WBBL league title was decided on Saturday, while seven of the eight spots in the benecos WBBL Play-Offs have now been confirmed ahead of the final two weeks of the Regular Season.
Sevenoaks Suns sealed a second successive WBBL Championship title on Saturday after defeating Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters, 63-71. Cat Carr top scored with 19 points in the title-clinching road victory before adding 18 points as the Suns enjoyed a 55-81 success at Cardiff Met Archers to move to an impressive 20-0 league record with two games to play.
"The weekend was great - we just played team basketball, which is what Sevenoaks does best," said Vanessa Da Silva.
"Being able to win a league title in my first season has been a good experience. Our goal is not to focus on going unbeaten, but to get better as a team and keep learning things that will be key as we approach the Play-Offs."
Newcastle Eagles and Durham Palatinates are heading to the benecos WBBL Play-Offs after having their places secured this weekend. The Eagles edged out top eight hopefuls BA London Lions in a 59-56 victory behind 12 points and 12 rebounds from Georgia Ohrdorf, while Durham eased past Caledonia Pride as Rudiane Eduardo had 28 points in a convincing 54-94 road win.
Manchester Mystics ensured they will be playing at home in the benecos Play-Offs after beating Nottingham Wildcats 74-85 to guarantee a top-four finish. Jasmine Joyner and Chelsey Shumpert combined for 57 points in the loss for the hosts, while Georgia Jones led her side with 23 points.
On Friday evening, Leicester Riders defeated Oaklands Wolves 89-72 with a combined 41 points for Brea Elmore and Dee Hayward to propel their side to 17-3 in second. The Wolves must wait to clinch their spot in the benecos WBBL Play-Offs, though any win or loss for the Lions will be enough from the final two games.
