Another four games make up the D1W week 8 schedule as leaders Anglia Ruskin University are back in action following a break last weekend.
Selecting a winless team as part of the game of the week is somewhat of a break from tradition, but NTU have been playing well without the payoff of getting wins in the last few weeks and look primed for a victory in the near future.
A narrow 68-63 defeat on the road in Solent and a 100-97 loss away to Ipswich shows that NTU can hang with the division's bigger teams and if they put that form together on a consistent basis they should have no problems stringing a series of victories together.
That opportunity starts tomorrow against a Thames Valley side looking to grab their third win in a row and get above .500 for the first time this season. Diana Voynova is a former D1W Player of the Week and the Cavs' go to player on offence, she'll certainly be a threat to NTU's quest for a maiden win in 2019/20.
In the weekend's three other games, leaders Anglia Ruskin University (5-1) head to BA London Lions II (0-5) who sit joint bottom of the D1W standings. BA lost to ARU by 34 and 27 in their two regular season games last season, suggesting the Lions may struggle to get anything out of this one.
Bristol Academy Flyers (2-3) have had an up and down season so far in 2019/20, but still possess the quality to cause team's a problem at this level. Team Solent Kestrels (5-1) take the trip to Bristol tomorrow, looking for a win to keep pace with ARU at the top of the standings.
Finally, Loughborough Riders (1-3) have suffered back to back losses to Thames Valley and Reading and would love to get back to winning ways at home to Southwark Pride (2-2) tomorrow.
