Just the three fixtures in the WNBL League over the weekend, with Team Solent Kestrels showing their dominance in both the Men’s and Women’s league, with both sides undefeated so far this season in the top divisions.
Ipswich Basketball 69-71 Team Solent Kestrels
Just two points separated the sides after full-time which saw Team Solent Kestrels continue their 100% record, whilst Ipswich Basketball suffered just their second loss of the season.
Current WNBL Player of the Week Harriet Welham was the game’s leading scorer, with 27 points but on the wrong end of the result. Ipswich held a close 45-44 lead going into the fourth and final quarter, but heartbreak for the hosts as Team Solent Kestrels came back to snatch victory in the closing minutes, with Jodi Jerram scoring 19 points for the visitors whilst Kristina Karpova added 15.
The result sees Team Solent Kestrels unbeaten in the division at the top of the table, whilst Ipswich sit third with three wins and two losses.
Anglia Ruskin University defeated Nottingham Trent University 92-77 which sees them with joint-points with table toppers Team Solent, Madeline Homoly scoring an impressive 38 points, 12 rebounds and adding two blocks for good measure.
In the third and final game of the weekend, Thames Valley Cavaliers claimed a 76-56 victory over Loughborough Riders at Uxbridge College,
Alex Baker continued her fine scoring form despite the loss, again claiming the top scorer with 15 points, but this time sharing the title with opponent Diana Voynova also scoring the same amount in her side’s victory. Voynova also had 15 rebounds and three assists to help guide her side to a convincing victory.
