As Coronavirus restrictions remain in place across the UK, Basketball England is continuing to work hard to ensure all clubs get the support they need.
BE staff have been reaching out to hundreds of our clubs to find out what assistance is required, what issues have arisen in the last six weeks and what challenges remain in the short, medium and long term.
Common issues highlighted include:
The recently announced Sport England Emergency Fund includes £20m of support for sports clubs during the Covid-19 crisis. Basketball England are keen to ensure all member clubs and organisations receive assistance should they require it, including accessing the Emergency Fund if needed.
We are delighted some of our member clubs have already been successful in applications to the fund and hopefully the grant will help during this difficult period.
Funding application are made online and Basketball England can provide a straightforward template document to clubs and organisations to help with planning their submission.
BE can also provide guidance on what can and can’t be applied for. Some clubs have also benefited from advice on different ideas for membership and promotion going forward, plus help with the online Sport England application process itself.
Basketball England's Relationship and Coordination Manager Laura Doherty said: “As a governing body, we want to help clubs, leagues and organisations through this difficult period. We are here to support the numerous individuals and organisations within the sport.
“Once we’re all through this tough period, basketball can push on and continue providing an outlet for so many that love the game. We remain committed to ensuring all our clubs and organisations can help to make that a reality.”
