Both Conference leaders were able to extend their win streaks this weekend and maintain their grip on top spot. With 10 games taking place across the country in week 17, we take a look at all the results from the weekend in D2M.
Medelynas enjoyed a great weekend, with an overtime win against their London rivals to win both match ups in their double game week.
They started off their week with a narrow 87-85 win over Greenwich Titans after Ausridas Petraitis won the game with four seconds left on the clock. It capped a remarkable performance for him as he recorded a triple-double of 27 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
Petraitis carried his form into the next game with All Stars as he hit a 22-point, 14 rebound double-double as Medelynas needed overtime for their second win.
They now go joint second with Ipswich in the Southern Conference, having played a game more.
It was a miserable weekend for Titans who lost their other game of week 17, 82-99 to London Greenhouse Pioneers. Arturo Noha Pascual did have a fine individual weekend for Titans, with his 26 points following the 29 he hit in the Medelynas defeat the day before. Yonathan Napoleon starred for the hosts with a 32 point, 15 rebound double-double to compound Titans to another defeat.
Sussex Bears remain bottom of the Southern Conference following their 66-74 home loss to London Westside. A poor second quarter left Bears unable to recover, although James Felstead gave a 25 points performance as they tried to stay in the game. Donald Morris’ 31 points proved decisive for Westside as they earned a valuable road win.
Southern Conference leaders Essex Rebels continue to hold on to top spot after another win on the road at Solent Kestrels II. Michael Swain fronted up for the visitors with 20 points as Rebels remain unbeaten in their first three games of 2020.
Ipswich stay second thanks to a huge 100-51 win against Cardiff Met Archers. Ethan Price hit 26 points, while Jake Eynon recorded a 21 point, 13 rebound, 13 assist triple-double to halt Cardiff’s winning run.
In the Northern Conference, leaders Newcastle earned an 87-68 road win at Bristol Hurricanes. Nestor Saa’s 26 points, 14 rebound double-double was to be in vain as Thomas Horvat added 22 points to help Newcastle to another win.
Manchester Magic experienced a mixed weekend, winning one and losing the other of their double game week match ups. They inflicted an 87-49 defeat to bottom side Sheffield, but then allowed Derbyshire Arrows to close the gap to two points as they lost 98-84 on the road.
Charnwood College Riders saw off the challenge of Birmingham Elite with a comfortable 83-63 home win. The victory sees Charnwood just two points off the teams above in fourth, while Birmingham end week 17 eighth in the Northern Conference.

The National Cup Finals are next weekend which sees the teams return on February 8 for week 18 in D2M.
Greenwich Titans will look to end their poor run of form against Cardiff Met Archers, while London Pioneers face team Solent Kestrels II at home.
Second takes on third as London Medelynas and Ipswich go head to head, while leaders Essex Rebels face bottom side Sussex Bears.
There’s also a London derby to look forward to between London Westside and the All Stars, who also host Cardiff in a double game week for them.
In the Northern Conference, Bristol Hurricanes host Birmingham and Chester are back in action against Myerscough, who also travel to Derbyshire Arrows in week 18.
Charnwood can catch Magic as third plays fourth, while conference leaders Newcastle host bottom placed Sheffield. Magic will also have another contest on their hands as they hit the road to Derbyshire Spartans.
