With little basketball being played and clubs and other organisations feeling the financial and general strain of the pandemic, people across the country stepped up and made an amazing impact to all those around them.
Whilst COVID-19 continues to rumble on and the need to follow government guidance still remains, it is vital we celebrate the activity that members of the basketball community took part in and the impact it had.
Basketball has an amazing culture of sharing, empathy and support, particularly in times of difficulty, and the last year and a half has shown that more than ever.
Over the past three months, Basketball England has collected inspirational stories and examples of the game's ‘Lockdown Legends’, people of all ages and from all walks of life, who have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to help support basketball and local communities.
With around 70 applications received from people and organisations across the country, BE has put together a ‘Lockdown Legends’ collection that contains incredibly selfless and inspirational stories from across the game.
The collection shows the diverse and supportive community that basketball enjoys, and the impact that the sport can have to change lives. No doubt there are hundreds more lockdown legends out there, each and every one deserves credit for their contributions during such a challenging time.
