The Leicester Riders recorded a huge victory Sunday afternoon against the Caledonia Pride, beating them by an incredible 54 points to make it five wins from five and further the gap at the top of the table from them and the chasing pack.
Holly Winterburn and Kate Oliver dropped 22 and 25 points respectively, which was more than the entire Pride team combined, who struggled throughout to defend the paint – conceding a total of 64 points from close range.
Ella Clark and Christina Gaskin both managed double-doubles, reaching double figures in points and then getting 13 and 10 rebounds respectively, while Whitney Allen also managed ten rebounds for the Riders – who grabbed as many rebounds as the Pride scored points.
The Riders put lots of pressure on the Pride ball-handlers – who turned the ball over 29 times – with 33 points of their total coming from turnovers thanks to the home side’s emphasis on making steals which Oliver made a total of eight.
Maud Ranger’s double-double performance which consisted of 11 points and 11 rebounds was one positive for the Pride, while Ella Doherty also scored 11 points.
Riders’ next game is on February 12th as they host Sevenoaks Suns, while Caledonia Pride will have to wait until February 14th to try and bounce back as they visit Nottingham Wildcats.
