WNBL1 Preview: Week 17 (20/21 February 2021) - live streams, stats and more

Another pair of games populate week 17 as four teams all look to grab valuable wins on the way to the post season.

Top plays bottom in Ipswich tomorrow as the leaders welcome basement side BA London Lions II, whilst Nottingham Trent University enjoy their first action of 2021 as they travel to Thames Valley.

We take a look at both those games below, with links to live stats and live streams at the bottom of the page.

Ipswich (7-1) v BA London Lions II (0-5)

The odds will be stacked against BA this weekend as they head to Suffolk to take on table topping Ipswich.

The Ipswich offence averages a league best 85.9ppg through their first eight games, with the Lions averaging a league-low 52.4ppg in reply.

With a similar disparity in terms of rebounding (45.5 to 36) and assists (21 to 7.8), it's difficult to see a way for the London side to hang with their opponents in this one.

The contest may provide Ipswich coach Nick Drane with the opportunity to provide further minutes to Hannah Gray, Makenna Williams, and Millie Pearson, with the trio all making their debut in last weekend's 88-60 win over Reading.

Leia Edwards and Kian Omer-Jones could well lead the charge for the Lions once again, both top the team's averages for efficiency, points and rebounds.

Thames Valley Cavaliers (1-2) v Nottingham Trent University (3-4)

Thames Valley will be looking for their second win in a row tomorrow as they welcome Nottingham Trent to Uxbridge College.

The Cavs grabbed their first victory of the season last weekend as they beat Worcester 59-52, a surprise result given the form of both teams in 2020.

Eleanor Bishop played well in that game to finish with a team-high 16 points, and Emma Bush's performance earned her WNBL Team of the Week honours.

Without a game since mid-December, it is hard to know what sort of shape Nottingham will be in this weekend.

If they can play with the fluency that saw them grab wins against CoLA and Reading, they will no doubt fancy their chances against the Cavs.

Trent enter this one on the back of three straight losses before the mid-season break however, dropping contests against Solent, Worcester and Loughborough.

Mady Burdett, Isabel Bueriberi and Vicky Gray all remain dangerous players for last season's National Cup finalists, they certainly have quality on their roster if they can find a way to unlock it after the lay-off.
