Following a short pause to the WNBL season following country-wide lockdown restrictions, the league is beginning to spark back into life once again.
The schedule has undergone some changes in order to ensure the season can still finish in late May following the withdrawal of Bristol and Anglia Ruskin.
Solent capped their return to action in 2021 with a comfortable 88-57 win over Loughborough Riders.
With key players Erin Hikin, Molly James and Makana Stone all missing for the visitors, Solent made short work on their opponents as a 27-9 final quarter padded what was already a healthy lead for the Kestrels.
Loughborough played hard in the first half to hold a slender lead for the most part, but faded badly after the break to provide a one-sided final score.
Without Stone's presence around the basket, the hosts scored an impressive 62 of their points in the paint, also outrebounding their opponents 49-39.
Faye Endean (15pts, 8reb, 6ast), Erica Meyer (13pts, 6reb) and Krisztina Velkey (13pts, 6reb) all impressed for Solent as Andrea Kurkowski (12pts), Kristina Karpova (12pts) and Earleesha Jackson (10pts) also made it to double digits on the score board.
Robyn Ainge's 17 points led the way for the Riders as Katie Januszewska put together a 15-point, 13-rebound double-double.
