"We want to win. That's got to be the mentality.
"We're coming up against some great nations that have played 3x3 a little bit longer than us. So, we might be a little bit behind the drawing board there, but with our preparation, determination and grit, I think we have a great opportunity to showcase that we can compete at this level."
Collins claimed a silver with Team England in Melbourne in 2018 – a highlight in a highly successful playing career. Now as the coach of Team England 3x3, she is charged with bringing the national team up to speed in the exciting format of the game and targeting success at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
She made a great start to that that mission, leading a Great Britain team made up of England players to the Europe Cup Finals in Paris in September 2021.
At the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Collins, then captain of England, lead the women’s team to a shock silver medal after beating favoured Canada in the semi-final of the 5v5 competition.
To go to another Games as the England coach, she says is ‘humbling and inspiring’.
