WNBL1 recap: Week 18 (12/13 February 2022) - live streams, stats and more

As people across the country celebrate Valentine's Day, some D1W teams loved the past weekend whilst others were left heartbroken.

Across the five games there were big wins for Team Solent Kestrels, Bristol Flyers and London Lions II, while Ipswich also came away from Cardiff with a good result and leaders CoLA claimed yet another win.

There's a quick recap of all the results below, and each one is also clickable if you wish to view the live stats. We'll have a full recap later today.

Cardiff Met Archers (6-8) 80-86 Ipswich (9-4)

A dominant overtime period saw Ipswich claim an important six-point road win over Archers, in a close-fought encounter in the Welsh capital.

Ipswich kept last week's Player of the Week Amber Deane was kept quiet by her usual standards, though she still posted an eight-point, 12-rebound game.

It was her teammate Isobel Bunyan's turn to stand out for the hosts, as she ended the contest with 31 points.

But it was Ipswich who recovered from a slow start to clinch the win, thanks to notable performances from Olivia Forster (26 points), Saruna Gudza (23pts, 9rbs, 7ast) and Cameron Taylor-Willis (20 rebounds).

After regulation time ended all square at 71 apiece, Ipswich held their nerve to take the added period 15-9.

Elsewhere this weekend

Bristol Flyers (7-10) pulled of  an impressive 55-47 road win to end Thames Valley Cavaliers' (9-3) eight-game unbeaten run.

A tight game finally went the way of Flyers in the fourth, as it fell 11-17 in the visitors' favour. Flo Ward delivered 14 points from the bench, while Cavaliers' Katherine Goldsby top-scored with 18 points of her own.

Worcester Wolves' losing streak stretched to six games (4-9) at the hands of London Lions II (2-13), with 25 points from Ruchae Walton helping her side to a 73-50 win.

Team Solent Kestrels (8-6) eased to an 88-59 victory over Reading Rockets (4-9) thanks to big hauls from Faye Endean (23pts), Taylor Gaffney (20pts) and a double-double from Krisztina Velkey-Cleeve (15pts, 16rbs) to cancel out Rockets' top-scoring Gaila Gonzalez (27pts, 9rbs).

Finally, leaders CoLA Southwark Pride (12-1) got back to winning ways in style in Sunday's 39-72 away win at bottom club Nottingham Trent University (1-12).
