Academy Leagues: Quartet of games ahead of mid-season break - Week 10

Four games make up this week of Academy Leagues action, with a pair of contests in both the EABL and WEABL.

SGs College take a trip to BMet City of Birmingham Rockets and Oaklands host Copleston in the EABL, whilst Charnwood and Nottingham Academy Wildcats clash in the WEABL North and Oaklands Copleston double up in the WEABL South.

We take a look at all the action below.

EABL

The two games in the EABL are split evenly between the North and South, starting in the West Midlands with BMET City of Birmingham Rockets (1-3) against SGS College (1-4).

Both teams have struggled in the first half of the season, with just a single win to their names. If either is going to make a dart for the playoffs they'll need to start with a win tomorrow before pushing on in 2025 with more positive results.

BMet's Nektarios Papadopoulos currently averages an EABL eighth-highest 18.5PPG this season, he could be a difference maker for the hosts tomorrow.

The South contests sees another pair of programmes down near the foot of the standings as Oaklands Wolves (0-3) entertain Copleston High School (1-4).

Like their fellow sides in the North, both these teams have found success largely elusive in 2024/25 but this clash represents a chance to pick up three valuable points before the calendar turns over.

Fin Morgan averages 20.0PPG and 9.0RPG in his two games for Copleston this season and will be hoping to extend those numbers against an Oaklands side still searching for win #1 this term.

WEABL

South leaders Copleston High School (6-0) take a trip to Oaklands College (0-3) in a winless vs unbeaten clash.

Cerys Leach exploded for a stunning 43 points last time out against JMA Reading Rockets and will no doubt be hoping to keep that momentum going against another programme trying to hit their stride.

The battle to catch Manchester at the top of the North standings continues as Nottingham Academy Wildcats (3-1) head to Charnwood College Riders (2-3) in the the Conference's only game.

Nottingham took home all three points when these teams last met in October, winning 76-68 thanks to a 23-point, 10-rebound double-double from Tiarna Chambers-Desmond.

The Wildcats would love another performance like that from their young star, whilst the Riders will know they need to win this one if they're to stand any chance of catching the teams above them.
