Basketball academy to open in Maidstone

Maplesden Noakes School in Maidstone, Kent is set to open a new basketball academy in September 2025.

Across England, a growing number of sixth forms have incorporated basketball academies, enabling students to balance their studies with dedicated athletic training.

Maplesden Noakes’ latest course offering allows applicants to its sixth form the chance to pursue basketball in addition to football, providing more avenues for students interested in pursuing their sporting interests.

Maidstone Warriors is one of the largest clubs in the South East, with roots in community basketball and recent expansion into competitive National League basketball for various age groups. Its partnership with Maplesden Noakes will offer a high-class coaching experience for both boys and girls, including participation in local and national competitions.

Maidstone Warriors Basketball Club Academy Principal, Chris Manley, said:

“It’s great to finally have a solid partnership that emphasises both academics and athletic development. This programme, alongside a strong sixth form academic curriculum, allows players to train regularly and compete in Wednesday fixtures. Plus, it caters to those interested in officiating, coaching, or performance analysis."
