Basketball England's membership for the 2024/25 season is open.  

Sparking excitement for the impending local and national league campaigns, players, coaches, officials and others can now pick up their membership for the season ahead, accessing licences and benefits.

Which type of membership should I buy?  

Simply go to the membership portal and select the roles, age-group and level (national league, local league or BUCS for players, coaches and bench personnel and national or region for officials) you wish to participate at and the system will apply the appropriate licence.  

If you wish to participate in multiple roles, you will only pay for the most expensive licence type.  

Membership will be split into the follow categories: 

Performance (National competitions) 

  • For NBL, WNBL and Jnr. NBL players, coaches, officials and bench personnel  

Participant (local and regional competitions) 

  • For local league, club and regional CVLs, BUCS and 3x3 players, coaches, officials and bench personnel  

Any exceptions?  

Those officiating only in Jnr. NBL need only licence as a regional official. Those coaching and officiating senior NBL and can also operate in Jnr NBL. 

Other roles 

A Supporter Membership will be launched in October for fans and followers, Club Admins, parents or guardians, League and Association committee members, giving access to benefits 

You can also create a free Subscriber account with a unique membership number and access to the BE portal, meaning you can upgrade to a paid membership and start your full membership journey with us when ready. 

Guidance to get through the process 

  • If you are an existing member and all of your documents are up to date, simply log on and add the relevant licence to your profile, which is quick and easy to complete. 
  • If you are an existing member, you can check your documents are up to date by going to your Locker on the portal and clicking ‘Eligibility’ - see below

  • In line with NBL regulations, completed licence applications must be received seven days in advance of a fixture. We cannot guarantee applications made within seven days of a game will be verified in time.

How much does 2024/25 membership cost? 

For any players aged 21 or over with a non-British passport, the cost of your membership and licence differs due to additional FIBA and home office verification that must take place. These are further requirements to ensure your eligibility to compete in competitive basketball in England. The different Visa classifications are details below, with associated costs.

Type 1 = Anyone requiring a Visa/Work Permit to be in the country - £525

Type 2 = Anyone with EU Settlement, EU Pre-Settlement or Indefinite Leave to Remain - £160

What benefits come with membership?

Members can access discount codes for the BE shop and BE courses in the Member Benefits section of the locker. A new platform offering members huge savings on a range of great products and brands will be available soon.
