With up to 13 awards available within each of the 10 BE regions, covering all aspects of the sport, recipients were announced as the first step in recognising contributions made in 2023, with national winners being crowned this Spring.
Hundreds of nominations from across the country were submitted throughout January before shortlists and eventually winners were chosen.
Formerly known as Basketball England's Volunteer Awards, this annual programme was created to recognise the selfless dedication and efforts of various members, organisations and clubs across the basketball community.

“The BE Awards aim to honour those who have consistently showcased a level of excellence and inspiration across their chosen area and this year’s cohort of winners are no exception.
“Volunteers are often the unsung heroes of our game and without their countless hours of work behind the scenes we know that people of all ages and abilities wouldn’t get the chance to enjoy the benefits that come from being a part of the sport we all love.”
From this year’s regional winners, shortlists of three per award will be selected to receive the national award to be announced next month.
National winners will also be announced in conjunction with this year’s Services To Basketball award recipients for 2023. This is a prestigious award that can only be won once by an individual and recognises the lifelong commitment to the sport.
Previous winners include Patricia Fairclough OBE, Pauline Prior and Betty Codona OBE amongst the 46 recipients to date.
