New awards

This year there have been five new awards introduced for 2024, with a total of 15 awards up to grabs across the regions. The new awards are:

  • Slam Jam Delivery Partner of the Year
  • Community Basketball Program of the Year
  • Local League of the Year
  • Club Welfare Officer of the Year
  • Player Development Coach of the Year (Talent Pathway)

The new awards will focus on highlighting all the work that takes place within community basketball, with a focus on showcasing grassroot basketball programmes and leagues that give people who are new to the game the chance to develop their skills in a suitable environment.

Club and Volunteer Development Manager Nick Holloway said:

"The newly introduced awards will highlight the important work that goes into developing our next generation of players. Our clubs do such a phenomenal job in giving young kids a great first touch point with the sport and we look forward to celebrating these programmes.

"I am sure that the other existing 10 award categories will also receive a typically high level of nominations, further highlighting just how much incredible and valuable work goes on across the country week in, week out.

"Volunteers and their selfless dedication continue to drive our great sport forward, and I'm delighted we can once again recognise those efforts with the 2024 Awards."

Services to Basketball

The Services to Basketball award is a prestigious award that can only be won once by an individual and recognises the lifelong commitment to the sport.

These individuals have contributed at all levels of the game, from grassroots, all the way through to elite and international, as well as covering various different roles within the sport. Winners of the award include coaches, players, referees, table officials, league organisers, area registrars and many more

As part of the current process, we are also welcoming Services to Basketball nominations, and this can be done from the same link as the nominations for the other 15 awards.

Holloway added:

"One of the highlights of the year is being able to recognise those who have contributed so much to our great game, and we look forward to acknowledging the 2024 Services to Basketball class as they're inducted into the history of our sport."

This year, nominations can include photos or videos that showcase all the amazing work that a nominee has done over the last 12 months, so don’t miss out on the opportunity to reward a deserving person or organisation!
