Week six of 2024/25 EABL and WEABL seasons are now in the books, with Copleston's Louisa Gibbins and City of London Academy - Southwark's Bilal Khan the standouts in the WEABL and EABL respectively.
Louisa Gibbins was the lead performer in a balanced team effort that saw undefeated South Conference leaders Copleston down perennial rivals CoLA 82-75.
The GB U20s forward scored a game-high 21 points and excelled on the glass, pulling down seven rebounds for Coach Drane's side to claim her second individual award of the season.
The win was a reversal of fortunes from when the two teams - featuring many of the same players - met in WNBL1 action last Saturday.
“It was a great way to bounce back after the weekend," said Gibbins. "The whole team stepped up to get the win.”
Copleston head coach Nick: Drane added: “Louisa was outstanding, as were the whole team - as you have to be to compete with CoLA. It was a great win but we know better than anyone that it’s very early in the season.”
In the men's competition, a clash between the same two establishments also produced the POTW.
CoLA's Bilal Khan hit 27 points, including five triples, to see off Copleston, dishing out seven assist on the way to a 29 efficiency rating.
He said: “I am really grateful to receive Player of the Week and very proud of our team's performance and getting the win.
"I will continue trying to build off it and help lead the team all the way through."
Head coach Jay Williams added: "I am very proud of Bilal, he showed great leadership on and off the floor and when he is shooting the ball well it really helps."
Manchester's Fortune Iguma also had a 29 efficiency game this week, with 23 points and nine rebounds against Derby, but Bilal took the honour by racking up his impressive numbers in less court-time.
