EABL & WEABL Players of the Week 9/10/24 - Chamber-Desmond & Smythe shine

Two more standout players were honoured following the latest round of elite academy action.

After the third week of 2024/25 EABL and WEABL seasons, another pair of players of the week have been added to the records.

WEABL

Tiarna Chamber-Desmond paired 23 points with 10 rebounds in Nottingham Academy Wildcats' statement 76-68 win over Charnwood College Riders.

Her performance earned the praise of Wildcats head coach Siobhán Prior, who said: “It’s hard to believe with how much Tiarna has achieved so far, but she is only just scratching the surface of what she can do.

"Her performance against Charnwood is a glimpse into the dominance she can show. Aside from her on-court performance, the real strength in Tiarna’s game is her outlook and the way she approaches each day. She’s a great team-mate and we are all excited to continue to work with her.” 

Chamber-Desmond added: "It’s a great achievement and I’m very grateful to receive POTW. It was a great win for the team and I wouldn’t have achieved this without them. Thank you."

EABL

Charlie Smythe (11pts, 12reb, 8ast) flirted with a triple-double as Copleston picked up their first win of the season 76-68 against Oaklands Wolves.

He said: “The was a great win for the team, hugely important for us all. It’s an honour to win this award, but it was a whole team effort so I want to share this with my team-mates.”

Head coach Nick Drane said: “Charlie showed great leadership and how he can impact the game in multiple ways. It was an important win for this group of lads.”

Meanwhile, Corey Hill (22pts, 10reb, 5ast) was another contender with his the standout showing for SGS in their 89-80. win over BMET City of Birmingham Rockets.
