The FocusHoops Team of the Week

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Nina Wallace - Worcester Wolves, guard

23pts/6reb/7ast/8stl/35eff

Worcester’s Nina Wallace clinched Player of the Week honours this week with a fantastic scoring display in their home win over ARU.

Wallace bagged 23 points, hitting 47% from the field, and going 5/5 from the stripe.

The talented guard pulled down six rebounds, dished out seven assists, took away eight steals, all whilst not committing a single turnover and just two fouls.

Wallace made a huge contribution in the win, all whilst playing disciplined basketball.

Adaora Dioramma – CoLA Southwark Pride, forward

20PTS/17REB/26EFF

Adaora Dioramma put on a show for the NBL Live cameras with a game-high 20 points, adding 17 rebounds for the double-double to see CoLA by Manchester.

Dioramma shot very efficiently, going 9/14 (64%) all from 2-point-land whilst dominating the glass, particularly on the defensive end but also leading her side on the offensive glass with three boards.

Capping off a great outing with a single block and just one foul, Dioramma continues to impress in the WNBL D1.

Irene Oboavwoduo - Manchester Mystics, guard

15PTS/8REB/7STL/21eFF

Irene Oboavwodou didn’t let the NBL Live spotlight affect her as she scored a team-high 15 points for Manchester in their tough loss to CoLA Southwark Pride.

Oboavwodou led Manchester in scoring, making 7/12 shots, as well as in rebounding, pulling down eight in total, two on the offensive glass.

Oboavwodou caused CoLA issues on defence coming away with a remarkable seven steals in a battling individual performance despite her side eventually coming up short.

Tia Freeman - Anglia Ruskin University, guard

37PTS/9reb/3AST/32EFF

Another player who put up stunning numbers despite being on the wrong end of the final score was ARU's Tia Freeman.

Ruskin took the loss against the Nina Wallace inspired Worcester Wolves, but Freeman put on a show of her own, leading all scorers with 37 points on 56% shooting, putting in 11/15 from inside the arc.

Freeman drew eight fouls, half of the fouls Worcester committed, and converted six free throws. Three assists, one block, one steal and nine rebounds were also added, making for a strong outing even in a losing bid.

Manchester's Irene Oboavwoduo (Luke Simcock)

Jess Jolley - Barking Abbey, guard

18PTS/15REB/4AST/7stl/27EFF

Jess Jolley had a strong individual outing in a tough contest for Barking on Saturday, finishing with an 18-point, 15-rebound double-double.

Jolley went 3-6 from downtown on her way to the game-high points total and cleared up on the glass, pulling down a team-high 15 boards.

With four assists and seven steals, Jolley caused Bristol problems as evidenced by drawing six fouls on her way to a very creditable +/- of seven in a 15 point defeat.

TVC cage Cobras

Thames Valley Cavaliers held out for a narrow, but crucial, two-point victory over local rivals Cobham Cobras on the road this weekend.

TVC saw three players finish in double-digit scoring, led by Sante Moonie, who ended on a 12-13 double-double, with Hanna Pryce and Theresa Jackson finishing with 11 and 10 points a piece.

In a very even contest, it was points from turnovers that was the key difference between the sides with TVC being more clinical in this regard (20 vs 9).

Katie Richard led Cobham in scoring, finishing with a game-high 17 points.

Worcester see off ARU to maintain playoff push

Worcester Wolves took down Anglia Ruskin on Saturday in a 10 point victory which keeps them just outside of the playoff places, well in the mix for what is becoming a very competitive battle for the eighth spot.

The Wolves were led in scoring by Player of the Week Nina Wallace’s 23 points, with Carolina Marques putting up 19 points and skipper Shanice Turner ending on 11 points total.

Worcester were able to score well inside, and punished turnovers to the tune of 26 points (compared to ARU’s 14) to clinch an important home victory to set them up for an exciting 2025.

ARU were in scoring by Tia Freeman who finished with a D1W-high of 37 points.
