NBL2/3 & WNBL2 recap (14/15 December 2024) - recaps & scores

Encon Derbyshire Arrows enjoyed a nail-biting NBL2 North win after narrowly coming away with a victory in Manchester, while NASSA and Barking Abbey remain level at the top of the South table.

In WNBL2, London All Stars remain unbeaten despite a scare.

NBL2 North

Encon Derbyshire Arrows (9-3) hung on to beat Manchester Magic (6-5) 79-77 in front of the NBL Live cameras in a thriller.

Titas Berzinis scored what turned out the game-winning lay-up with a minute left as 17-year-old Jack Walton had a chance to take the game to overtime but missed his free throws with seconds left.

Hamza Ibrahim led the Arrows with 29 points and nine rebounds. Pharroh Gordon had 20 off the bench for the Magic.

Leicester Warriors (9-3) hung on despite a strong fight back from Liverpool (2-9), with a 96-81 final.

Leicester had led by as many as 30 points before Liverpool reduced their deficit to just six, but that's as close as the North West side would get thanks to Joshua-Jai Williams-Clifford's game-high 22 points for the Warriors.

St Helens Saints (7-0) stayed unbeaten as they routed Cardiff City (1-8) 122-86.

William Self hit an astounding eight three-pointers on his way to 37 points to lead the winners as they remain unbeaten.

But they are all chasing the Bristol Academy Flyers II (11-0) as they overcame Worcester Wolves (2-9) 74-64. Tre Thomas led the way for the league leaders with 28 points.

Teesside Lions (4-5) relied on the dynamic duo of Jamie Glen and Brendan Patrick to see them past Bristol Basketball United (3-6). The two both had 29 points each to lead them to a 93-71 victory.

Towards the bottom end of the standings, Cardiff Met Archers (3-7) scored a big 84-80 win over Myerscough Basketball Academy (4-6). Ollie Wright led the Welsh side with 25 points.

Close on their tail is Team Solent Kestrels (9-1) as they used a 61-25 first half to breeze past Barnet Bulldogs 106-68 at the Solent Sports Complex.

London Stars (9-2) complete the top four as they routed Essex Rebels II (2-10) 93-54 at home, and 26 points from Romario Spence secured a 99-95 win for London Elite (5-5) against Greenwich Titans (5-5).

WNBL2

London All Stars (8-0) were given a scare by Endeavour Ipswich (4-5) by remained calm to score a 58-56 win, leaving them as the sole unbeaten side in WNBL2 and top of Pool II.

Neighbours London Elite (6-2) are not far behind though as they used a 28-7 first quarter to race away from Stevenage Royals 65-51 with East London Phoenix (6-3) making a capital treble, as they thumped Team Solent Kestrels (4-4) 92-63.

Milton Keynes Breakers (6-1) head into the break in high spirits after they snagged a 72-64 road win against Nottingham University Wildcats (1-6), with the Breakers tied at the top of Pool I on 12 points with Bromsgrove Bears

City of Birmingham Rockets (5-2) scored a 71-57 win over Cardiff Met Archers (4-3) to stay right in the mix.

Down at the bottom, Charnwood Riders (2-6) gave themselves breathing space over the bottom two, as they beat basement side Liverpool (1-6) 59-55 in a tight affair at Charnwood College.
