Chris will pick a Player of the Week and four other selections to round out his Team of the Week, paying attention to the following criteria:
Other players will also receive a shout out as honourable mentions at the bottom of the piece.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Smith is having a season to remember and was a key reason Derby found themselves victorious in Saturday’s showdown with Newcastle.
From a 12-point deficit, Smith contributed eight points in the third quarter to turn the tide and push his side into the ascendency.
The former NBL MVP earnt his second Rebound NBL Player Of The Week award with a great contribution in key areas. He helped Derby excel in the paint and via second chance points, grabbing five offensive boards.
Busumbru showcased his credentials as one of the signings of the season with a high-quality performance, leading all Essex players in all major categories categories bar blocks, and doing it in less than 24 minutes of action.
The former Solent guard showed his winning pedigree versus a resurgent Bradford side to help solidify Essex’s title push, getting his side off to the perfect start and contributing to all but two of Essex’s plays as they raced to an early 19-7 lead.
Masten flirted with a quadruple-double in a performance that almost earnt him this week’s top individual honours.
Newcastle tried to make life difficult for the floor general, however Masten was having none of it as he frequently disrupted their offence and contributed heavily to Derby getting another dub to add to their title challenge.
Table-topping Derby had too much for Newcastle, using a big third quarter to ease to an 89-76 win.

Jonson-Thompson put in a fine all-round double-double performance, including a key contribution down the stretch, to help Worthing past Newcastle.
The Former BBL man provided key offensive plays in a 19-3 scoring run before chipping in a pair of key steals to boot.
Those efforts helped secure a big road-trip result against a slightly shorthanded Newcastle, pushing Thunder towards the top-eight conversation in the process.
Adeluola makes a back-to-back appearance in my Team of the Week with an efficient 32-point performance against Birmingham, a battle of two teams trying to avoid being dragged into a relegation scrap.
Bode sunk game-winning free throws in the final moments to stretch the lead to a six, doing just enough to keep the Cavs in front in the 104-100 win.
