Created by basketball and educational experts, the programme will give children a great first experience of the sport in fun, safe and engaging environments and in an achievable timescale to develop all the basic skills and techniques to both understand and enjoy the game.
Over 30 delivery partners across England are now set to deliver the six-week programme, which was first piloted in 2019 to 1000 children but had its national rollout postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are over the moon to be rolling out Slam Jam nationally.
“The programme is part of our work to deliver a successful and sustainable future for the sport, by delivering accessible and positive basketball experiences for children and young people.
“Slam Jam not only focuses on basketball related activity, but it also aims to improve the physical literacy and fundamentals of movement for all participants. We hope that everyone who finishes the programme will want to continue their basketball experience and make it a sport for life.”
For just £43, children will get six coaching sessions through a trusted delivery partner – usually within a school, club or community setting – and a Slam Jam branded kit bag, including a t-shirt, basketball, baseball cap and water bottle, and other goodies.
Sessions are packed with games, competitions and activities led by activators who are fully trained by Basketball England.
With minimal equipment required (basketballs, bibs, cones), the programme can also be delivered almost anywhere.
