WNBL1 & National Cup recap: 4/5 January - live streams, stats and more

Four WNBL1 games kickstarted the second half of the season, with wins for Ipswich, Anglia Ruskin, Manchester and Cobham.

Brent also booked their place in the WNBL National Cup Final with a commanding victory against London Cavaliers, earning the right to take on holders Ipswich in the showpiece later this month.

We take a look back at all the weekend's action below, with links to live stats at the bottom of the page.

National Cup semi-final: Brent Bulls 73-38 London Cavaliers

Brent Bulls breezed into the WNBL National Cup final with a commanding 73-38 victory against London Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers were undone by a 21-2 opening frame that put the 2023 Cup winners behind the 8-ball for the duration, allowing the hosts to move on to face Endeavour Ipswich Basketball in this month's Final.

Judit Fritz top-scored for the Bulls with 17 points, assisted by Imogen Youd (14pts).

It was a bad day at the office for the Cavs overall, with Emma Bush and Mrashi Karumba-Roberts (8pts each) leading the way for the visitors.

Elsewhere this weekend

With CoLA out of action, Endeavour Ipswich Basketball (8-3) seized the opportunity to pull back level at the top as they dispatched Barking Abbey (1-9) 74-49.

Louisa Gibbins (17pts, 11reb) added another double-double to her total for the season, with team-mate Harriet Welham (18pts, 9reb) nearly doing the same.

Cobham Cobras (5-7) picked up their fifth win of the season, but only just, as they edged past Reading Rockets (1-10) 70-68.

The Rockets were denied what would have been a huge win to start the new year by 14 points apiece from Cobham's Francesca Quinn and Kate Lee.

Manchester Mystics (6-6) moved back to .500 on the season as they saw off Worcester Wolves (4-6) 71-62 thanks to 20 points from Kizzy Spence-Mussington.

The teams were tied with 2:15 remaining but a late 9-0 run was enough to get the hosts over the line despite a fine outing from Worcester's Carolina Marques (23pts).

Anglia Ruskin University (7-5) also got 2025 off to a great start, picking up a 68-60 W against Bristol Academy Flyers (6-6).

Izabelle Booth (28pts) was the standout for ARU, and her output plus a 27-17 final quarter helped power the come-from-behind win for Ruskin.
