WNBL1 preview: 11/12 January 2025 - live streams, stats and more

It's a busy weekend in D1W, with six games across the coming days.

London Cavaliers' trip to Suffolk to take on co-leaders Endeavour Ipswich Basketball is the pick of five contests tomorrow, leaving Brent to host Worcester in Sunday's only game.

We take a look at all the weekend's match-ups below, with links to live stats at the bottom of the page.

Endeavour Ipswich Basketball (8-3) vs London Cavaliers (5-5)

Joint leaders Endeavour Ipswich Basketball host London Cavaliers tomorrow in what should be an exciting contest.

Winners of four straight, including last weekend's 74-49 victory over Barking Abbey, means the reigning regular-season champs enter this one with plenty of momentum on their side.

The same can't be said of tomorrow's visitors, who have split their last four 2-2 as part of a .500 overall record that sees the last season's second place finishers down in eighth place as things stand.

One reason for Ipswich's continued success is the play of Harriet Welham, Louisa Gibbins and Maddy Wormald, who remarkably own spots one, two and three on D1W's efficiency leader board. Wormald missed the win against Barking Abbey last time but is expected to return for this weekend, pushing Ipswich back to full strength once again.

The Cavs are still looking to hit their stride after some off-season upheaval across their roster, though a core trio of Kat Goldsby (18.0PPG, 8.1RPG), Mrashi Karumba-Roberts (10.5PPG) and former Ipswich guard (14.0PPG, 7.9RPG) have allowed London to keep themselves in the playoff mix.

With Ipswich (81.1PPG) and London (71.0PPG) owning the best and third best offences in the league, expect points tomorrow, especially since neither team possesses a top five defence for points allowed.

Elsewhere this weekend

The weekend begins with CoLA Southwark Pride (8-2) taking a trip to Cobham Cobras (5-7), with the visitors hoping to keep pace at the top of D1W against a Cobham side still striving for the playoff places.

Bristol Academy Flyers (6-6) lost against Anglia Ruskin last time out and will look to make amends tomorrow as they welcome another team on 12 points, Manchester Mystics (6-6).

Another team in the midfield mix aiming for something better are Loughborough Riders (6-3). They'll be hoping a home tilt against strugglers Reading Rockets (1-10) will be enough to help fuel their push for the top four.

Saturday's only other game sees relegation-threatened Barking Abbey (1-9) going up against Anglia Ruskin University (7-5). With a six point gap now opening between the bottom two and potential safety, BA will know that like Reading, they need to start picking up points sooner rather than later.

That won't be easy against an ARU side coming off a win in their first game of 2025.

That just leave Brent Bulls (7-2) against Worcester Wolves (4-6) as Sunday's only fixture, with the Londoners looking to use their highly-rated offence (73.0PPG, #2 in D1W) to continue their climb up the standings.
