WNBL1 preview: 23/24 November - live streams, stats and more

There are three days of action on tap for WNBL fans with a rare Friday night game on the cards.

Endeavour Ipswich Basketball travel to Worcester tonight for the opening game of six that are planned in total, with four more on Saturday and Loughborough Manchester slotting in as Sunday's only contest.

We take a look at all the weekend's matchups below, with links to live stats at the bottom of the page.

Barking Abbey (1-5) vs Reading Rockets (0-6)

There's a big clash at the foot of the D1W standings tomorrow as bottom two Barking Abbey and Reading Rockets square off.

With just one win between them from 11 outings, BA's victory in Loughborough earlier this month, both these sides will be desperate for more points this weekend before the gap to the team's ahead grows any wider.

BA and Reading have struggled at opposite ends of the court so far. Reading's 80.5PPG allowed is a D1W high, and nearly 11 points higher than any other team's defence so far. Abbey on the other hand own the league's lowest scoring offence and their 50.8PPG is 7.7 points shy of their next closest challenger.

Barking's lone win on the year came off the back of a 37-point explosion from Megan Verbeeten, with the GB youth standout understandably earning FocusHoops Player of the Week honours for that outing.

If she can recreate that kind of form again this weekend remains be seen, but she'll be needed to put up points to counter the threat of Reading's Alicia Guerra Rainford (18.0PPG) and Millie Day (10.3PPG), who lead the Rockets in scoring this season.

Both teams need two points from this contest, but only one will be happy come Saturday night.

Elsewhere this weekend

The action begins on Friday night in D1W as Worcester Wolves (2-4) look to take advantage of the stuttering form of Endeavour Ipswich Basketball (4-2).

The reigning regular-season champs have dropped back-to-back games against CoLA and Brent, and they won't want that streak to go any further as they head to take on a Wolves side looking to create some separation between themselves and the bottom two.

Cobham Cobras (3-4) host the opening game of four planned for Saturday as they welcome joint league leaders Brent Bulls (5-1) in what will be a tough test for the newly promoted side.

The other side tied at the top, CoLA Southwark Pride (5-1) are also on the road, taking the trip across the country to play a Bristol Academy Flyers (4-3) side who's "belief is growing", according to coach Darren Oakey.

That just leaves an interesting contest between two teams vying for playoff position as Anglia Ruskin University (4-3) head to Thames Valley Cavaliers (3-3).

Both teams have been steady, if not spectacular, in the early going, and will no doubt want to begin stringing some more positive results together to make a push up the standing's before December's mid-season break.

That just leaves Sunday's clash between Loughborough Riders (4-3) and Manchester Mystics (4-3).

Both locked in on eight points, Manchester will be hoping their D1W leading defence (54.5PPG allowed) will be enough to get them over the line in a tricky road encounter.
