WNBL1 preview: 24/25 February - live streams, stats and more

D1W is cranking up the excitement as the regular season nears an end, with week after week of great contests.

Five games in the coming days are highlighted by Ipswich's trip to Brent, with Sunday's clash certain to have a major effect on the title race.

We take a look at all the weekend's action below, with links to live stats and live streams at the bottom of the page.

Brent Bulls (13-3) vs Endeavour Ipswich Basketball (14-3)

Ipswich head to Brent this weekend in a battle between the league's top two sides.

One and two clash with plenty at stake, and whichever team can steal victory here will no doubt have the upper hand in the title race going forward.

Sunday's visitors came through a tough test against CoLA last time out, claiming a 40 point statement win as they triumphed 106-66.

No doubt Ipswich would love to keep that momentum going, and with four games to go after this weekend, only one of their remaining opponents resides in the top six.

That means a win here could well see the Suffolk side take a huge step towards the title, but in a competitive D1W season plenty of teams can still spring a surprise on their day.

By comparison, Brent still need to play both CoLA and Thames Valley before their schedule is complete, so their path to the finish line is far more daunting. That said, the Bulls are 13-3 for a reason and carry plenty of quality across their roster.

The clash between Ipswich's Harriet Welham (25.9PPG, 9.8RPG, 4.2APG) and Brent's Judit Fritz (18.5PPG, 4.6RPG) should be a good one, as will the battle on the glass between Bulls' Jess Davies (14.4PPG, 13.9RPG) and Christabel Osarobo (10.9PPG, 11.1RPG).

There's talent everywhere you look in this one, and it shouldn't disappoint as one of the most anticipated matchups of the weekend.

Elsewhere this weekend

Barking Abbey (5-10) against Manchester Mystics (8-8) begins the weekend, with BA trying to pull themselves away from the relegation scrap whilst Manchester look to further secure a playoff spot.

Bristol Academy Flyers (7-10) are at home to Reading Rockets (5-7) as the scrap for playoff places hots up. Reading are on the outside looking in as things stand, with Bristol taking up the eighth. No doubt the Rockets would love to switch that around as soon as possible.

CoLA Southwark Pride (10-5) will be looking to bounce back from their humbling defeat at the hand of Ipswich last time out and have a trip to struggling City of Birmingham Rockets (3-14) to help them do just that.

Thames Valley Cavaliers (12-4) round out the Saturday slate with a trip to Team Solent Kestrels (1-15), safe in the knowledge that one of their title rivals will be dropping points this weekend.

That, plus a healthy win over bottom side TSK, would no doubt be a perfect one-two for the Cavs this weekend.
