WNBL1 preview: 26/27 October - live streams, stats and more

Three days of D1W action await, as a rare Friday night game makes up the latest round of games.

Worcester Wolves entertain Loughborough this evening in tonight's only clash before a pair of contests tomorrow and two more on Sunday.

One of Sunday's games, Reading Rockets vs Endeavour Ipswich Basketball, will also form part of an NBL Live double-header, with John Hobbs and co. providing some top quality coverage of another D1W game.

We take a look at all the weekend's matchups below, with links to live stats at the bottom of the page.

CoLA Southwark Pride (2-1) vs Thames Valley Cavaliers (2-1)

Two title heavyweights clash on Saturday as Thames Valley Cavaliers head to CoLA Southwark Pride.

Despite their lofty ambitions this season, neither side has managed to navigate their opening trio of games unscathed.

CoLA came through a tricky opening clash with Brent before seeing off Cobham a week later, only to lose 68-65 in last weekend's thriller away to Loughborough.

TVC tripped out of the gate and dropped their season opener to the Riders, but a pair of impressive wins against reigning regular season champs Ipswich and Reading have coach Connell's team back on track.

Last week's 79-72 victory against the Rockets came without the presence of D1W leading light Kat Goldsby, with the American continuing her run as one of the league's top producers.

That meant the likes of Yassin Belle-Mbaye (21pts, 9reb) and Sante Moonie (16pts, 6reb) were able to step up, and Goldsby's status for this weekend will surely be a big one to watch.

CoLA's loss in Loughborough came despite a stunning outing for Chandera Jones-Aryeh, who flirted with a triple-double across an 18-point, eight-rebound, nine-assist afternoon.

She'll no doubt be a key driver for Pride getting back on track this weekend in what is sure to be must-watch D1W action.

Elsewhere this weekend

Tonight's only clash sees Worcester Wolves (1-2) looking to pick up their second win in a row as they entertain one of the league's two remaining unbeaten teams in Loughborough Riders (3-0).

If the Wolves snag a win they'll need to slow down Riders' Melissa Leet, who secured a spot in the FocusHoops' Team of the Week after her antics against CoLA.

Moving into Saturday, Cobham Cobras (1-2) are another team looking to make progress back to a .500 record, and they'll need to see off Bristol Academy Flyers (1-2) if they're to do it.

Both teams got a W on the first weekend of the season before suffering back-to-back defeats, someone's fortunes will have changed once this weekend is over.

The action draws to a close with a pair of games on Sunday, starting with the NBL Live clash, as Endeavour Ipswich Basketball's (2-1) head to Reading Rockets (3-0).

Reading are still looking for their first win of the season, and that task won't be made any easier by facing Maddy Wormald and Louisa Gibbins. The Ipswich pair combined for 45 points and 29 rebounds last time out, with both making the FocusHoops' Team of the Week in the process.

Coverage kicks off in that one 2:30pm, with John Hobbs covering all the action on the BE YouTube channel.

The weekend draws to a close with Manchester Mystics (3-0) taking on an Anglia Ruskin University (1-2) side that ran Ipswich close a week ago.

ARU look an improved outfit on 2023/24 and this weekend could be the game that they start putting it all together, though reigning Player of the Week Rehana Khalil will surely have something to say about that.
