WNBL1, Women's National Cup preview: 2/3 November - live streams, stats and more

There are four games taking place this weekend in the WNBL1 – and all of which are keyto the top half of the standings.

And there will also be a programme of Women’s National Cup games taking place on the Sunday.

We take a look at all the weekend's matchups below, with links to live stats at the bottom of the page.

Endeavour Ipswich Basketball (3-1) vs Manchester Mystics (3-1)

Endeavour Ipswich Basketball hosts the Manchester Mystics at Copleston Sports Centre as second plays third.

Ipswich have made a solid start to the season in their four games with just the one blemish on their record against Thames Valley.

They convincingly brushed Reading Rockets aside 101-50 on Sunday behind 28 points and 10 rebounds from Harriet Welham, who dominated in all aspects of the court.

She was helped by Maddy Wormald, who quietly went about her business in Sunday’s win over Reading with 15 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and seven steals, as both player earned places in the Team of the Week.

They face a Mystics side who have made an impressive start to the new season, but lost their first game last week to Anglia Ruskin, 69-61 after overtime.

Irene Oboavwoduo led the way with 17 points as she continues her good form alongside veteran Rehana Khalil, who has been a driving force behind Mystics good start.

Coach Rob Fairley’s side have settled in the top half of the table so far and will want to keep their positive momentum going by dethroning the reigning league champions.

League leaders Loughborough Riders (4-0) will aim to continue their unbeaten start when they host the Bristol Academy Flyers (1-3).

Both played the previous season’s newly promoted sides last week with Loughborough hot off Friday’s road win to a determined Worcester Wolves, whereas Bristol started well but faded away in the second half, eventually losing 65-55 to Cobham Cobras.

And the Cobras (2-2) will want to continue that good form and perhaps secure a first away win in Division One, when they travel to Barking Abbey (0-3), who are still looking for their first win of the season.

After ending Manchester’s winning run, Anglia Ruskin (2-2) will head back home, looking to carry that momentum when they play Brent Bulls (2-1).

No question, ARU have been boosted by the arrival of former Essex Rebels forward Tia Freeman, who earned Player of the Week honours last week for her majestic 27 points and 11 rebounds against Mystics.

But with Brent boasting several key players, led by Judith Fritz and Lindsey Cleary, they will pose strong opposition for ARU on Saturday.

Women’s National Cup

Sunday sees second round action with Anglia Ruskin at home to Thames Valley Cavaliers, Barking Abbey hosting Reading Rockets, an enticing London derby where CoLA Southwark Pride play Brent Bulls and Loughborough Riders play Manchester Mystics in all Division 1 clashes.

The WNBL2 teams will also be competing in the second round on Sunday as Team Solent Kestrels play Cobham Cobras in an interesting tie on the south coast, an M4 derby sees Cardiff Met Archers play the Bristol Academy Flyers, and Worcester Wolves welcome Bromsgrove Bears.

The second-round ties are capped off with holders Ipswich hosting WNBL2 side Milton Keynes Breakers at Copleston.
