World Mental Health Day - online tools to take care of your wellbeing

World Mental Health Day is celebrated every year on 10 October.

This year’s theme set by the World Federation of Mental Health is prioritising mental health in the workplace.

At Basketball England, we want to signpost you to some helpful online tools that can help you take care of your mental wellbeing.

The Mind: Mental Health and Physical Activity toolkit aims to increase the number of sport and physical activity providers who are equipped with the knowledge and skills to support and engage people who may be experiencing mental health problems within physical activity. 

Made up of a variety of guides, the toolkit provides guidance, tools, templates and good practice case studies to help organisations provide an inclusive and welcoming environment for people experiencing mental health problems to be physically active.

Guide 9 specifically has a safeguarding and mental health focus for adults working or volunteering in sport and physical activity, providing an overview on safeguarding, adults at risk, boundary setting, confidentiality and other support that is available. 

For children and young people, the Child Protection in Sport Unit provides a variety of resources that can help you to support their mental health and wellbeing.

Our toolkit brings together a range of resources that if you're feeling not quite right can help improve how you feel.

Basketball is a powerful way to build strong mental health, particularly in young people. It provides an opportunity to build mental health skills that can be utilised throughout life, building confidence, empathy and teambuilding ability.

Via our wellbeing page you can build your own ‘mind plan’ – a personalised mental health action plan, with tips and advice to help you look after your mental health and wellbeing.
