Academy Leagues: Seven games across final day of regular season - Week 18

There's plenty to play for as the final day of the 2024/25 regular season has arrived.

Three of the four Academy conferences have champions, and Copleston High School can make it four if they can beat Itchen College in the WEABL South.

There's still playoff seedings to be confirmed across the EABL and WEABL, making for an exciting day of action.

We take a look at all the action below.

EABL

There's just one game remaining in the EABL North, with Charnwood College Riders (7-2) hosting Derby Trailblazers (2-7).

The main storyline in this one is Charnwood's ability to lock up second spot with a win, relegating Manchester down to third in the process. Derby have made the playoffs as the North's #4 seeds and that won't change regardless of Wednesday's result.

In the South there's nothing to play for but pride as the four playoff teams have already been decided.

With the news that JMA's clash with Barking has been voided and won't take place, Itchen College (5-4) will finish in third regardless of their result against Copleston High School (1-8).

The South coast programme holds the head-to-head tiebreaker against JMA so there's no route to third spot for the Rockets (4-4) in their final game against Oaklands Wolves (1-8).

WEABL

All eyes will be on Itchen College (4-5) Wednesday afternoon as both the WEABL South title and the remaining playoff spots will be decided.

Copleston High School (9-1) need a win by any margin to secure a second successive conference title, but success for Itchen will guarantee them a playoff spot.

If Itchen lose, that opens the door for Oaklands Wolves (3-6) to sneak into the playoffs. A win for the Wolves against bottom side JMA Reading Rockets (0-9), plus Itchen faltering, will leave both teams tied with Barking on 12 points.

In that scenario, Barking would finish third, then Oaklands, with Itchen falling out of the playoffs.

The North contains two games to wrap things up, but is a far more straightforward affair as the final standings are already confirmed.

Nottingham Academy Wildcats (5-2) finish the year with a home tie against The Sheffield College (2-5), with the two teams locked into the second and fourth spots respectively.

That just leaves Milton Keynes 5 Dimensions Breakers Academy (0-7) with one last shot at picking up a WEABL in their debut season, but Charnwood College Riders (3-4) will be finishing third no matter what happens in that one.
