PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Marques was on a mission this weekend, pulling the strings as the Wolves picked up a huge road win in Loughborough.
The four-win Wolves went to the Midlands and beat the top-four chasing Riders 79-76, with Marques' 27 points playing a huge part in the final score.
Shooting 56% for the contest, including 2/3 3pt, the Worcester standout added five rebounds and a pair of assists, whilst her four steals were also a game-high.
Seven of her points came in the pivotal 29-24 third period, setting the platform for the visitors to pull off the win of the weekend.
In what was a neck-and-neck race, Booth was just pipped to POTW honours but still earns a worthy spot in this week's five.
In ARU's narrow 63-56 win over Manchester, her game-high 28 points made up nearly 45% of her team's total, and with no other player passing 11 points in the win, she was a real difference maker.
Twelve rebounds made for a double-double and another game-high, with three steals, two assists and a pair of blocks adding to a great outing.
A huge 61 points across the weekend made Fritz a straightforward inclusion this week.
Brent dominated Barking on Saturday, winning at a canter 92-54, with Fritz filling the stat sheet at will on 58% shooting.
Sunday's outing against Loughborough was much tougher, with the Bulls needing a period of OT to see off the dogged Riders 73-66.
The Brent standout found another gear in that win, dropping a weekend-high 35 points to force her team over the line and into a tie for top spot.
As usual, the Hungarian was on point in other areas, contributing 12 rebounds, five assists and five steals across the two days.
It wasn't quite the same double performance for Brent's Lindsey Cleary, but a quieter Sunday was more than made up for by a massive Saturday in the blowout win over Barking.
Thirty one points and 11 rebounds made for a sizable double-double, going 60% from the floor in the process. Five assists and a pair of steals added up to the weekend's highest efficiency, and coughing up just one turnover in 30:12 of action was also a bonus.
Sunday still contained a 12/10 double-double for the American, a great contribution even if it faded in comparison to Fritz's outing above.
The Brent duo got it done for their side this weekend, pushing them even further into the title race as a result.
It may be a comfort to Roscoe to know that she can always give volleyball a try if she ever wants a change of pace from the basketball court!
With an outrageous seven blocks in Bristol's 66-59 victory against Cobham, Roscoe was a menace on defence. The D1W average for blocks per game currently sits at 1.8, showing just how imposing the Australian-born forward was.
Add in an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double, it was only Roscoe's three-point shooting (1/7 3PT, 14%) that let her down across what was otherwise a complete performance.
The former Caledonia Gladiator is still making the first steps in returning from a long-term injury, disrupting her debut season with the Flyers so far. If this weekend is anything to go by however, she could be a key piece for her side the rest of the way.
The depths of winter may be here, but D1W is heating up rapidly.
Brent's two win weekend sees them move onto 22 points, joining perennial contenders CoLA and Ipswich on 11 wins after they both claimed victories this weekend as well.
The Bulls still have Ipswich to play this month, plus a still TBC game in CoLA, whilst Ipswich and CoLA clash in two weeks' time on the 15 February.
Those games are sure to be huge, and with tiebreakers in play as well, they're going to be well worth keeping an eye on.
It would have been easy to forgive Brent for a hangover after their loss to Reading in January's WNBL National Cup Final.
The Bulls didn't bring their A game in the Manchester loss, looking disjoined until they finally settled into their groove too late for a comeback against Ipswich.
That defeat is just proving to be part of the London club's evolution though, stringing together three wins since their Cup Final disappointment with an average margin of victory of 26.3PPG.
With Cleary and Fritz in top form, and the rest of Brent's roster also clicking with coach Liburd's game plans, they'll be a team to watch in the coming weeks.
