PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Wallace’s last-second heroics saw Worcester Wolves take an important road victory in Cambridge against Anglia Ruskin.
Wallace led the way for Worcester with 18 points on 53% shooting, including a perfect 3-3 from the stripe and locked down the defensive glass with 11 of her 13 boards coming at that end of the floor.
She had 10 points in the final period, which culminated in her game winning steal and lay up with just four seconds left to play. The Worcester guard led her side with five steals in a huge performance that will boost Worcester’s confidence as they head to the playoffs.
Moonie led the way for London Cavaliers in their hard-fought, OT victory over Cobham Cobras, top scoring with 26 points on 7/11 shooting.
She was one of the Cavaliers' focal points on offence, pulling down six offensive boards from nine total, finishing just shy of a double-double, whilst drawing eight fouls in the contest, making 12 of 17 attempts from the stripe.
Distributing her scoring throughout the contest, the forward kept the Cobras and the table officials busy as she helped her side clinch an important victory in a tightly contested match-up.
Welham put on a show for Ipswich in their road victory over Loughborough with a monster 18-17 double-double outing.
Welham’s 18 points came from 40% shooting, including four makes from outside and 2/2 from the stripe.
She took control of the defensive glass with 14 of her 17 boards coming at that end and she also dished out four dimes to go with with two steals and two blocks in an all-around outing.
Freeman was ARU’s scoring leader in their last-second loss to Worcester Wolves this weekend, putting up 32 points to go with eight rebounds in a tough contest.
Freeman was a real focal point of the offense, drawing 11 fouls and draining 15/18 attempts at the stripe, whilst making 50% of her attempts from inside the arc.
She was a huge part of Ruskin’s fightback with 18 points in the fourth as the Cambridge club came up just short, but will head into the playoffs with a home berth and confidence in their scoring output.
Dioramma kept CoLA on course for their final weekend showdown with Brent, leading the way with a 13-18 double-double, including making 7/10 from the stripe.
She was the leading rebounder in the contest with 18 in total and 13 on the defensive end, to go with one assist, three steals and two blocks in a complete performance for the London outfit.
Worcester Wolves survived an ARU fightback to clinch a last second road victory, thanks to Nina Wallace’s steal and finish with just seconds to go in the game.
Wallace led the way for Worcester with 18 points, as Carolina Marques bagged 14 points and Stephanie Oliver came off the bench to add 9 points in a 10 minute cameo.
As expected in a one-point game, the two sides were evenly matched with Worcester edging the scoring from the field, and ARU making up the difference from the stripe.
ARU were led in scoring by Tia Freeman and a standout performance from Vicky Gray. Both sides will have learned lessons from this contest, which will serve them well as they head to the playoffs.
CoLA kept their title challenge on track thanks to a monster 22-7 final period at home to Manchester Mystics after a close contest in Southwark.
CoLA were led in scoring by Ayla Habbal's 24 points in the outing, Adaora Dioramma's 13 points and Chandera Jones-Aryeh with 12.
The two sides were evenly-matched and whilst Manchester outshot CoLA beyond the arc, they also committed 19 fouls, sending CoLA shooters to the stripe 27 times to make 19 freebies to just 6/7 for the Mystics.
Manchester were led in scoring by Kizzy Spence-Mussington who finished with 15 points.
