The FocusHoops Team of the Week
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
In the biggest game of the regular season, with the title on the line, Adaora Dioramma put in a huge performance, finishing with a 15-12 double-double on a sensational 71% shooting, including 5/7 from the stripe.
Dioramma cleaned up on the glass, including four offensive boards, and found teammates with two assists, whilst taking away a steal and sending two shots back.
Pride's young star capped off a fantastic regular season by delivering in the title-clinching game and sets CoLA up as the top seeds heading into the post-season.
Lindsey Cleary was a force to be reckoned with for Brent as they took down Loughborough, leading all scorers with 25 points on 45% shooting, which also included going 4/4 from the stripe.
Cleary, a dominant inside player throughout her time in the league, set the tone on the glass with 15 rebounds, controlling the defensive boards with 12, and also played facilitator with six assists.
Brent head into the playoffs as one of the top seeds, and Cleary as a sure-fire player to watch.
Carolina Marques has been an ever-present performer for Worcester in recent years, and rounded off an excellent season for the Midlands outfit with another fine outing, top-scoring with 27 points to go with five rebounds and two assists.
Marques was efficient in scoring, hitting 53% from the floor, 42% from beyond the arc and draining 8/11 from the line. As she has been so often in the past, Marques was a key focal point of her side's offence and drew seven fouls in a contest that Worcester needed to dig deep in to secure the victory.
Melissa Leet rounded off the regular season with a dominant 14-13 double-double, missing just one shot from the floor to finish on 85% shooting, including 4/4 from inside.
Leet helped lock down the defensive glass, with 12 of her rebounds coming on that end of the court and further protected the paint by sending two shots back.
Leet chipped in with two assists and two steals as Loughborough head into the post-season off the back of an impressive home victory over London Cavaliers.
Chandera Jones-Aryeh has been a constant presence for CoLA throughout their league winning campaign and put in a big performance during Pride's in their title-clinching win over Brent.
Jones-Aryeh finished with 11 points and seven rebounds, and found teammates for three assists, in an outing that had a little bit of everything. Jones-Aryeh shot very efficiently, netting 62% from the floor, with all her makes coming from inside the arc.
CoLA head into the playoffs as the top seed and with Jones-Aryeh in top form, they'll be a formidable opponent for any team.
CoLA Southwark Pride clinched the regular season title in an all-or-nothing contest at home to Brent, providing a nail-biting conclusion to the regular season.
CoLA were led in scoring by Adaora Dioramma (15), Ayla Habbal (12), and Chandera Jones-Aryeh (11) in a tightly-fought contest. There was hardly anything to separate the two sides, but CoLA’s slightly higher outside scoring threat was ultimately the difference maker as they scored two more triples, to offset Brent’s gains at the stripe and inside.
Brent were led in the contest by Lindsey Cleary, who top scored with 17 points and 12 rebounds in another fine individual display.
Worcester Wolves will enter their first WNBL D1 playoffs following a 7-point road victory over London Cavaliers. Wolves were paced in scoring by a game-high 27 points from Carolina Marques plus 17 points from Charlotte Finn and were led on the glass by Shanice Turner, who pulled down nine boards.
Worcester were the more clinical of the two sides at the foul stripe, although London’s Theresa Jackson went a perfect 8/8 from the line, and this was arguably the biggest differentiator between the two sides.
London were led in scoring by Kat Goldsby on 18 points and saw Sante Moonie dominate the glass with 16 rebounds.
