In a post on their social media channels, Brixton Topcats said:
“The staff, coaches, board, and directors are profoundly heartbroken by the sudden passing of Idryck. Our loss is immeasurable, and we are all deeply moved by this tragic event.
“Idryck was not just a member of the club; he was an irreplaceable part of its heart. His absence leaves a void that will be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He embodied the spirit of the club – a kind-hearted, selfless individual who touched the lives of so many. Loved by his peers and coaches, Idryck was a mentor to the younger members, always offering a gentle smile or a kind word, never hesitating to share his warmth and wisdom.
“At this time, our thoughts are with his family, who now face this unbearable loss. We extend our deepest love and condolences to them as they navigate this heartbreaking moment.
“Rest in peace, Idryck. Your memory, your kindness, and your spirit will live on in our hearts forever.”
Wilkinson played for Itchen College in the EABL class of 2021. Following his graduation, he received an athletic scholarship to Angelina College in Texas, instead heading to Lee College in Baytown as a Freshman before returning to the UK to play with the Topcats.
Itchen posted on Facebook that the club had the ‘heaviest hearts’ to learn of his passing.
“We would like to extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends and wider basketball community at this incredibly difficult time. Our love, thoughts and prayers always.
“Rest in eternal peace Idryck.”
“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Idryck, who has been remembered as an exemplary student-athlete. Everyone at Basketball England sends our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends, and the clubs that nurtured his basketball talent and him as a person. We will keep Idryck very much in our thoughts.”
