Learn to be a 3x3 basketball referee

Basketball England has launched its 3x3 Referee course aimed at anyone who has an interest in refereeing the short, fast-paced format of the game.  

The three-hour online course introduces the rules and provides the learner with the education required to referee 3x3. 

BE Officials and Volunteers Coordinator Shaun Williams said: 

“3x3 is a rapidly evolving version of the game, with varying rules and philosophies from 5v5.  

“It is important that we provide education for our referees, who will cover an increasing schedule of 3x3 games and tournaments across the country so that it is played with the correct rules and procedures and to give referees a continuing professional development opportunity.”

  • you must have some basketball knowledge or be at least a Level 1 5v5 referee 
  • candidates have 12 months from sign-up to complete all elements of the course
• The course consists of online learning modules and a theory examination.
