NBL1 recap: 15 March 2025 - live streams, stats and more

Another thrilling weekend of D1M action is in the books.

Unsurprisingly given how close the end of the regular season now is, there were key results across the standings, especially down at the bottom.

As Reading claimed the KitKing Trophy, leaders Hemel slipped up against Loughborough, while there's now a gap between bottom two Worthing and Bradford to the sides above.

We take a look back at all the weekend's match-ups below, with links to live stats at the bottom of the page.

Nottingham Hoods (7-14) 103-93 Bradford Dragons (5-14)

Nottingham Hoods gave their D1M survival hopes a huge boost with a 103-93 victory against fellow strugglers Bradford Dragons.

Creating a four-point cushion between the sides, Nottingham also claimed the head-to-head tiebreaker should the duo finish level come the end of the regular season.

Edging both quarters in the first half, the hosts then increased their lead significantly following a 31-22 third quarter. That advantage proved too much for the Dragons to overcomes as their D1M future now hangs in the balance.

An impressive 23-point, 16-assist double-double from Jun Murdock Jr was the standout performance for the Hoods on a day to remember, with both his efficient shooting (9-17 FGs) and overall distribution helping his side to an impressive 56% FG across the contest.

Forward Greg Skoric (15pts, 13reb, 6ast) also turned in a fine performance for Coach Dragosavac's side, with Elliot Bailey (23pts, 7reb) doing the same.

The result was a major set back for Bradford, but all is not lost. Despite sitting four points (plus the tiebreaker) off safety, they have played two games fewer than the Hoods, though time is rapidly running out to pick up the positive results still needed.

Justin Williams (24pts, 7ast) led the way for the visitors, with Micah Savery-Richards (23pts, 7reb) and Kofi Josephs (19pts, 6ast) doing the rest of the heavy lifting as part of a limited seven-man rotation.

The Dragons now move on to a difficult home tie against second-place Reading Rockets, and the Hoods are also at home next, hosting Essex Rebels.

Elsewhere this weekend

Newcastle Knights (8-12) moved further into the playoff discussion with a 105-77 victory over slumping Bristol Hurricanes (9-12).

The Hurricanes have now lost five in a row and came unstuck in this one thanks to 32 points from Corey Johnson, who splashed nine triples on his way to a game-high total, alongside Ronald Blain's triple-double (11pts, 11reb, 12ast).

Leaders Hemel Storm (17-3) were handed a rare defeat, just their third of the season, as they went down 80-72 against Loughborough Riders (12-9).

Trailing 57-50 going into the fourth, the Riders produced a mighty comeback over the final 10 minutes to seal the win and move into a three-way tie for the top four.

Michael Joiner (24pts, 6reb, 6ast) was the standout for Loughborough, with Darien Nelson-Henry (27pts, 14reb) providing a double-double for the Storm.

A late Zach Powell triple provided City of Birmingham Rockets (9-13) with a win by the narrowest of margins against London Cavaliers (7-12), with a 75-74 final score.

Powell's three formed part of a well-rounded 12-point, seven-rebound, five-assist outing alongside Luke Okosieme's double-double (10pts, 13reb) and a team-high 18 points from Orlan Jackman.

That production helped keep Justin Robinson (21pts, 9reb) in check, despite the former BBL MVP hitting five threes.

Derby Trailblazers' (14-7) five-game win streak is over after they came unstuck against Essex Rebels (12-8), 77-72.

One of D1M's best sharp shooters, Connor Nelson, did what he does best as he hit 5/6 from beyond the arc to power the road win for the Rebels, and his 17 points only trailed team mate Daniel Johnson-Thompson (18pts, 6reb).

Reigning Player of the Week Mo Walker continued his good form with a 16/15 double-double behind 17 points from captain Malcolm Smith, but it wouldn't be enough.
