There was a thriller in the Midlands on Saturday as Loughborough edged Essex 75-73.
A 28-18 second quarter allowed the hosts to lead by double-digits late in the first half, but the game closed significantly after the main change, including being tied up more than once in the fourth.
Some key late buckets from Victor Ndoukou (22pts) and Edward Onyia (15pts, 10reb) helped get the Riders over the line in a tense finish, with Justin Hedley (15pts, 7reb, 5ast) also playing well.
The win further cemented the Riders' top-four credentials, moving level with Derby on 18 points as they collected their ninth win of the campaign.
Essex were made to chase for the majority of the game, but they were always within touching distance and will no doubt be disappointed that although they got back on level terms late they couldn't push on for the win.
Emmanuel Kanwei (15pts, 4reb) and Luke Busumbru (14pts, 10reb, 7ast) led the way for the visitors as they fell into a tie for fifth and sixth with Bristol.
.
Bradford Dragons (1-11) couldn't build on last weekend's maiden win over Loughborough as they went down 89-78 against Bristol Hurricanes (7-6).
Daniel Edozie's well rounded 17-point, 10-rebound, six-assist contribution was a good one behind Vilmantas Dilys' team-high 21 points, cancelling out 29 points from Bradford's Kofi Josephs.
Worthing Thunder (2-11) suited up veteran Zaire Taylor against Milton Keynes Breakers (7-6) but it wouldn't help their current struggles as they lost out 103-87.
Taylor dropped 19 points on 53% shooting alongside 27 points from Elijah Maynard but it wouldn't be enough against standout performances from Adrian Scarborough (25pts, 5reb), Nate Robinson (25pts) and KJ Johnson (18pts, 13ast).
Finally, Nottingham Hoods (3-10) picked up a priceless victory and bragging rights to boot as they beat Derby Trailblazers (9-4) 81-80.
The Hoods put their current troubles behind them to lead by double-digits in both the second and fourth quarters, though Derby fought back on both occasions and led by two with just seconds remaining.
Elliot Bailey's last-gasp heave from half court found nothing but net though, downing the visitors and providing Nottingham with a win that will live long in the memory.
Derby's Malcolm Smith (26pts, 10reb) and Nottingham's Greg Skoric (18pts, 10reb) provided the leading stat lines.
