PLAYER OF THE WEEK
For the third week in a row, the individual award is heading to Reading with Poorman following Justin Hopkins and Mitch Clarke as the D1M Player of the Week.
He ensured Bradford's 2025 revival wouldn't continue in Sunday's only game, dropping a stunning triple-double that included 15 points, 13 boards and 11 assists.
Shooting 6/7 from 2pt range, the former Essex man's only real mis-step was his 0-3 shooting from beyond the arc, but he made up for that by sinking a perfect 3/3 from the line.
Three steals flashed Poorman's defensive prowess, ensuring it would be a tough day at the office for the Dragons as Reading instead kept pace at the top of the standings.
Newcastle needed a win this weekend and Abdul stood up to be counted when it mattered.
The Knights enjoyed a few standout performances on Saturday but the former Worthing man was the pick of the bunch, dropping a game-high 24 points to go with five rebounds, three assists and a trio of steals.
Ten of those points plus two assists and a steal came in the final six minutes of regulation time when London had made it a four-point game. That production instead allowed the hosts to cruise to the line for their fifth win of the season, giving Abdul a spot in the latest Team of the Week in the process.
In a neck-and-neck race with team mate Adrian Scarborough for this spot, American Johnson just did enough to get the nod in the Breakers' 99-87 victory over Nottingham.
Doing his bit to cool off the Hoods, Johnson shot an ultra-efficient 6/8 from the field for his 23 points. His 3/3 from beyond the arc also offered MK an additional scoring route as the likes of Nate Robinson (1/6 3pt) struggled to find their stroke on Saturday evening.
Johnson also drew a game-high eight fouls, hitting a reliable 8/9 from the line to provide further production.
Bristol were driven to their eighth win of the season by a standout performance from forward Dilys, with the talented forward helping the Hurricanes to an 82-74 victory against Worthing Thunder.
Twenty one points and 12 rebounds were both team-highs for an impactful double-double, but seven assists were also a game-high, showing the forward has plenty to his all-round game.
His +/- of +14 was also the highest of any Hurricane, a useful output in the narrow eight-point win.
In the weekend's biggest game, Moton went to work in front of the NBL Live cameras as Hemel downed Derby 92-83.
He has taken some time to acclimatise himself to D1M in his debut season, but Storm fans are now reaping the benefits as the American dropped a game-high 25 points this weekend.
No player with more than three shot attempts had a better success rate than Moton (10/16, 62%), and his four made triples were as many as Derby managed across the contest.
Five assists and four rebounds were a bonus as Moton managed to make a great Hemel team even better.
After three losses in their last four outings plus an uptick in results from the league's bottom three, Newcastle's position looked somewhat perilous entering this past weekend.
With a much-needed 88-79 victory against London Cavaliers now in the bag, Coach Elderkin and his side can breath a little easier this week.
Hafeez Abdul was on point, but Logan Rooney (21pts, 6reb, 3ast) and Ronald Blain (17pts, 11ast, 7reb, 3stl) were both solid in support to help get the job done.
The Cavs shot an impressive 60% for the game but still couldn't find a way to win, with Justin Robinson (16pts) leading the way for his side.
The North East side now move onto winnable games against Essex, City of Birmingham and a pair of ties against Worthing before the month is out, providing further opportunity to climb the table.
Reading still face a large, 14-0 sized hurdle to winning D1M's regular season title, but that hasn't stopped them from going through the gears to play some impressive basketball in 2025.
Winners of all five of their D1M games since the turn of the year, plus claiming the NBL National Cup in Manchester, the Rockets have topped the century mark in four of those five games (with a 96 pointer against Nottingham coming close to making it five out of five).
The Berkshire side have sent three consecutive players to take Player of the Week honours, and with it being a different recipient each time, it shows just how well the entire roster is playing right now.
Reading's trip to Hemel on 22 February is a huge game, but given the Storm's cushion, won't be enough to decide the title on its own. Still, with Reading in their current form, it's a game every NBL fan should have marked in the calendars.
