NBL2/3 recap (8/9 February) - recaps and scores

The NBL2 South standings took another interesting turn over the weekend with one team benefitting the most.

Meanwhile, Bristol Academy Flyers II and Leicester Warriors continue to rule the roost at the top of NBL2 North ad London All Stars remain unbeaten in WNBL2.

NBL2 South

In the big top-of-the-table clash, London Stars (15-3) scored a vital 94-88 win over Team Solent Kestrels (14-2) to keep their title credentials alive.

Nojus Zajankauskas led the Stars with 22 points in the win, as they stay above Solent with more wins, however, the Kestrels have played two games less. Andre Arissol led them with 35 points and 12 rebounds.

There was joy for London Stars but unexpected despair for Barking Abbey (14-6), as they lost 78-76 after overtime on the road to Cobham Scorchers (6-12).

Amarlie Wilkinson forced overtime for Barking with 40 seconds left in regulation as they looked to gain momentum in the extra period.

However, Cobham got the last word in the dying seconds left thanks to a jumper from Charles Ollis, which won the game and gave them hope for a potential pots-season spot. John Stewart led the victors with 26 points.

However, Barking did bounce back on Sunday with a 77-56 success over Richmond Knights (10-9), which capped off a dismal weekend for them as NASSA (12-6) narrowly beat Richmond 74-70 the day before.

Ben Maranan paced NASSA with 23 points as they drop the early-season leaders continue to fall down the table.

Greenwich Titans (8-8) stay in seventh, with a 94-90 victory over Endeavour Ipswich Basketball (1-16), while Barnet Bulldogs (7-10) beat London Elite (10-8) 94-85.

Demi Babalola shone for Manchester Magic

NBL2 North

Bristol Academy Flyers II (15-2) are top in the North, after a hard-fought 72-63 win over Cardiff City (1-13). Giuseppe Landolfi led the Flyers with 12 points.

Leicester Warriors (15-3) remain level on points with Bristol, albeit with one added loss to their name, after the scheduled game with Bristol Basketball United (4-12) was postponed.

Hamza Ibrahim led Encon Derbyshire Arrows (13-5) with 24 points as he led them to an 86-79 victory over Worcester Wolves (6-11).

St Helens Saints (12-2) stay in the mix at the top as they saw off Myerscough Basketball Academy (8-8) 96-71. Ben Tew amassed 17 points, to lead the Saints.

A dominant first quarter saw Manchester Magic (10-7) ease past Teesside Lions (4-11) 75-50 in the North West. Demi Babalola led the Magic with 26 points as the hosts raced to a 21-6 lead and never looked back.

And it was a double-winning weekend for the Cardiff Met Archers (7-10) as they continue their good run of form. Dan Flaherty had 17 points in their 81-69 win over Bristol Basketball United in a rare Wednesday game.

The Welsh side followed that home with a convincing 95-66 victory over Liverpool (3-14), with Flaherty at the heart of it again, leading the way with 25 points.
