Norfolk Iceni's McCormick wins volunteering gong

Norfolk Iceni Basketball Club founder Doreen McCormick has been honoured with a volunteering award.

Head Coach McCormick, who started the all-female club in 1983, was presented with the Services to Volunteering Award by Chair of Norfolk County Council Cllr Stuart Dark for dedicating over 40 years of her life to getting women and girls involved in basketball.

Iceni Level 2 Coach and Club Welfare Officer Karen O'Hara said:

"This award is extremely well deserved for the time, effort and passion that Doreen has put into the club and its members, families and the local community.

"There are a huge number of women and girls, not just in Norfolk, but around the country who owe their love of basketball, their continued involvement in the sport and the opportunities they were given, to Doreen."
